Today for each Moon sign
Favourable houses by Phaladīpikā 26.2, with vedhaClassical statements, not a forecast
The lines are classical statements from the 1937 translation, quoted with their verses; some speak of death or danger to life. They are not forecasts.
Houses are counted from the Moon sign, which is the 1st. A good transit is blocked when one of the seven grahas occupies its paired house (vedha). The Sun and Saturn never block each other, nor do the Moon and Mercury; the nodes neither have nor cause vedha. PD 26.1–8; MC 4.1–4
Noted, not computed: Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi’s Saturn-like rule for the nodes, the reverse vedha and the bright Moon’s 2nd, 5th and 9th (MC 4.1–5), Nārada’s neutralised planets and Kaśyapa’s regional limit (MC p. 144).

Every other house is unfavourable. PD 26.2, p. 286
Questions
From Phaladīpikā ch. 26 and Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi ch. 4, with the verse for each.
Is this based on my Moon sign or Sun sign?
Your Moon sign: the rashi the Moon occupied when you were born. Phaladīpikā counts transits from it. A Western horoscope uses the Sun sign, measured in another zodiac, so the two rarely match. Phaladīpikā 26.1, p. 286
What is gochar?
Gochar (gocara) is the movement of the grahas through the signs, read as houses counted from your Moon sign. Each graha is good in some houses and bad in the rest, and the texts give a result for each house. Phaladīpikā 26.1–2, 26.9–24
What is vedha?
A blocking pair. A graha in a good house loses its good result while another of the seven grahas occupies the paired house. The Sun and Saturn never block each other, nor do the Moon and Mercury, and Rāhu and Ketu neither block nor are blocked. Phaladīpikā 26.3–8; Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi 4.1–4
Why does my rashifal look different from a newspaper’s?
This page computes where each graha is from your Moon sign and quotes what Phaladīpikā says for that house, with its verse. Nothing else is added: no love, career or lucky-number lines, because no classical source gives them.
How it is worked out
Read the methodology- Houses
- Counted from the Moon sign, which is the 1st. Phaladīpikā 26.1.
- Favourable houses
- Phaladīpikā 26.2; Rāhu and Ketu like the Sun. Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi’s Saturn-like rule for the nodes is a note.
- Vedha
- Phaladīpikā 26.3–8 and Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi 4.1–4: a good transit is blocked by a graha in its paired house.
- Results
- Quoted from Phaladīpikā 26.9–24, tr. V. Subrahmanya Sastri, 1937, pp. 289–296. Ketu takes Rāhu’s lines (MC 4, p. 142).
