Questions
What is a kundli?
A kundli (janma kundali) is the Vedic birth chart: the position of the nine grahas in the twelve signs and houses at the moment and place of birth, measured against the sidereal zodiac.
Why does the birth time matter so much?
The ascendant moves through a whole sign in about two hours, and the house of every graha is counted from it. A birth time off by a few minutes can change the lagna, the divisional charts and the dasha balance.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Tick “I don’t know my birth time”. You get a Moon chart (Chandra lagna) with houses counted from the Moon’s sign. Results that depend on the exact time, such as the ascendant and the divisional charts, are left out and marked.
Which ayanamsa do you use?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) by default, the standard of the Indian national calendar. Raman, Krishnamurti, True Chitra, True Revati, Yukteshwar, Surya Siddhanta, Fagan-Bradley and tropical are in the calculation settings.
North, South or East Indian chart?
All three show the same positions. The North Indian chart fixes the houses and moves the signs; the South and East Indian charts fix the signs. Switch between them on the result page.
