How the day is chosen

Akshaya Tritiya is the Vaiśākha śukla Tṛtīyā covering the forenoon, sunrise to midday. When it covers the forenoon on both days, the later day is kept only if the Tṛtīyā lasts more than three muhūrtas into it; otherwise the earlier day is kept. The Nirṇaya-sindhu takes the later day in every such case; its day is shown where it differs. Dharmasindhu p. 36; Nirṇaya-sindhu p. 134

What time is the Akshaya Tritiya puja?

No. The texts prescribe giving. Gold appears among the gifts; buying gold, or buying anything, is not in the texts read. Vratarāja f. 44

Why do some calendars give another day?

When the Tṛtīyā covers the forenoon on both days, the Nirṇaya-sindhu always takes the later day. The Dharmasindhu takes the later only if the Tṛtīyā lasts more than three muhūrtas into it, and otherwise the earlier. This page follows the Dharmasindhu and shows the Nirṇaya-sindhu’s day beside it where they differ. Dharmasindhu p. 36; Nirṇaya-sindhu p. 134

When is Parshuram Jayanti 2029?

In Delhi, on Wednesday, 16 May 2029: the Tṛtīyā does not cover the first watch of Tuesday night alone, so it is kept on the later day, Wednesday. Paraśurāma is worshipped at pradoṣa and given the arghya, 19:04 – 21:09. Dharmasindhu p. 37

Why is the date different in the US or UK?

Akshaya Tritiya is decided by the Tṛtīyā in the forenoon at the city. The tithi begins and ends at the same moment everywhere, but sunrise and sunset come at different hours, so a city far to the west or east can keep another day. Dharmasindhu p. 36

How the day is found

Read the methodology
The day
The Vaiśākha śukla Tṛtīyā covering the forenoon. When it covers both forenoons, the later day is kept only if the Tṛtīyā lasts more than three muhūrtas into it, and otherwise the earlier day (DS p. 36). The Nirṇaya-sindhu’s later day (p. 134; VR f. 43) is shown where it differs.
Forenoon
Sunrise to midday, the first half of the day, by the Dharmasindhu’s own definition (p. 36).
Parshuram Jayanti
The Tṛtīyā covering the night’s first watch: the earlier day if only its first watch is covered, else the later (DS p. 37). The first watch is a quarter of the night: our reading.
